Quote templates for remodeling
Professional quotes for kitchen, bathroom, and interior renovation projects.
What to include in a remodeling quote
Renovations are high-value, complex jobs. A well-presented quote is what distinguishes a trustworthy professional from a casual tradesperson. Clients who receive an organised, itemised proposal are more relaxed and less likely to renegotiate mid-job.
Always divide the quote by phase or trade: demolition and removal, masonry and structural work, services (electrical and plumbing if applicable), finishes (tiling, flooring), painting, and joinery and fixtures. Each phase with its own subtotal.
Detail materials with references wherever possible. Specifying exact products is far more professional than vague descriptions. It allows the client to compare against what they have seen in showrooms and understand the quality they are buying.
Provide an estimated timeline per phase. A kitchen renovation may take 3 weeks. If the client works from home, knowing when they can return to normal is important. An indicative timeline with a 2 to 3 day buffer is reasonable.
Wherever there is a risk of additional work (damp in walls, old pipework, unknown structure), include a warning note. This prevents conflict when reality requires extra work.

How to present phasing and payment terms
Renovations above €2,000 should include a payment phasing proposal. It is not only a cash flow question; it is also protection for both parties.
A typical model:
- 30% on acceptance of the quote and before work starts
- 40% on completion of the demolition and services phase
- 30% on completion and handover
This model ensures you are never working without payment, and the client sees that payments are linked to real progress. With Prummo, the client pays the deposit directly from the quote link, without needing a bank transfer.
For jobs above €5,000, consider a simple one-page written contract in addition to the quote: parties, scope, timeline, payments, and an additional work clause. It does not need to be a complex legal document; 1 clear page is sufficient and protects you.
Tips for winning more remodeling jobs
Progress updates during the job build trust. Send photos of progress to the client via WhatsApp without being asked. "Tiling finished today, fitting the sanitary ware next week" with a photo is the kind of communication that generates referrals. The client feels in control without having to visit the site every day.
Create packages for your most common jobs: "bathroom renovation up to 5 m²", "standard kitchen refresh". Base prices with clear additional-work clauses simplify prospecting and speed up client decisions.
Document before and after. Professional photos of a well-executed renovation are the best marketing. Renovation clients ask family and neighbours for recommendations. A gallery on your phone with previous work is worth more than any paid advertising.
Frequently asked questions
Should VAT be shown on the remodeling quote?
Yes, always. Show it as a separate line so the client can clearly see the base price and the tax. In many countries a reduced VAT rate applies to labour on residential renovation, but not to materials above a certain percentage of the total value. Always verify with your accountant before applying a reduced rate.
How do I handle additional work discovered during the job?
Stop and communicate immediately. Never carry out additional work without client approval. Send a description and estimated price via WhatsApp. The client approves in writing (a message is sufficient) and then you proceed. This protects you from payment disputes at the end.
How do I estimate the duration of a renovation?
Base it on similar previous jobs. A full bathroom typically takes 10 to 15 working days with one professional. A kitchen, 15 to 20 days. Always add 2 to 3 days as a buffer for unforeseen events, and note in the quote that the timeline may be affected by material delivery delays. Clients accept this as a reasonable protection.
