- Surface preparation (sanding, filling, masking tape), 65 m² at €3/m²
- Primer application, 65 m² at €2/m²
- Wall painting (2 coats, emulsion paint), 65 m² at €6.50/m²
- Ceiling painting (2 coats, matt white), 28 m² at €7/m²
- Matt white emulsion 15L, 3 tins at €65 each
- Primer 15L, 1 tin at €48
- Filler 5kg, 2 units at €12 each
- Masking tape, sandpaper, brushes, and rollers, 1 set at €35

With Prummo, dictate: "living room 28 square metres at 6.50 per metre, bedroom 18 metres at 6.50, ceilings 14 metres at 7 euros, 3 tins of paint at 65 each..." and it is done.
Exterior facade painting quote
Facades require specific materials and often scaffolding. Example for a house:
- Scaffolding erection and dismantling, 1 service at €350
- Pressure washing, 120 m² at €2.50/m²
- Crack repair (opening, treatment, and filling), 15 linear metres at €8/m
- Exterior primer application, 120 m² at €2.50/m²
- Facade painting (2 coats, exterior paint), 120 m² at €8/m²
- Exterior paint 15L, 4 tins at €85 each
- Exterior primer 15L, 2 tins at €55 each
- Exterior filler and fibre mesh, 1 set at €60
Materials total: €570 | Labour (per m²): €1,680 | Scaffolding: €350 | Total: €2,600
Facade jobs above €2,000 are ideal for installments. 3 payments of €867 is easier to approve than €2,600 upfront.
Repair and touch-up quote
Smaller jobs that keep the schedule full:
- Damp ceiling repair (scrape, treat with anti-mould, fill), 4 m² at €15/m²
- Ceiling painting after repair (2 coats), 4 m² at €7/m²
- Wall touch-up with damage (filling + 2 coats), 6 m² at €10/m²
- Matt white emulsion 5L, 1 tin at €28
- Anti-mould treatment 1L, 1 unit at €14
- Filler, sandpaper, and brushes, 1 set at €15
Total: €205
Even small touch-ups deserve a quote. A professional document with your branding sets you apart from the painter who sends a price by text message.
Tips for painting quotes
Always quote by the square metre. It is transparent and the client can compare with other painters.
Separate surface preparation from the painting itself. Sanding, filling, and priming takes effort; if it is buried in a single price, the client does not value it.
Never forget ceilings. Many painters only quote walls and the argument starts later. Ceilings cost more per square metre because the work is harder.
Include the cost of materials as a separate line. Three tins of paint at 65 euros each shows the client that paint has real cost, not just "a bit of painting".
Frequently asked questions
How much should I charge per square metre?
For interior painting (labour only), 5-8 euros per square metre is typical. Exterior with scaffolding goes up to 7-10 euros per square metre. These vary by area.
Should I include paint in the per-m² price or separately?
Separately, always. The client understands the cost better and you do not lose out if paint prices go up. Also, if the client wants to switch brand or colour, the adjustment is simple.
How to handle jobs that need scaffolding?
Include scaffolding as a separate line in the quote. If you subcontract it, put the real cost. If you own scaffolding, charge an erection and dismantling fee.
