Does a free electrician quote template have legal standing?
A signed quote (even accepted over WhatsApp) can act as evidence of what was agreed in Ireland, but it doesn't replace a formal contract for larger jobs. For work above roughly €5,000, it's worth having a simple written contract alongside the quote. For most smaller residential jobs, a quote accepted by the client already creates an informal obligation that's generally recognised.
Should I include VAT on the quote?
If you're VAT-registered, you must show VAT separately on all quotes and invoices. If you're not registered (typically if your annual turnover from services is below the threshold set by Revenue, currently around €40,000), you don't charge VAT and should make that clear on the quote.
